Established in 2018, the Bangladesh Institute of Innovation, Research and Action for Development (BIIRAD) is an independent, non-profit research organization dedicated to advancing health, well-being, and sustainable development through rigorous scientific research, innovation, and evidence-informed action.

Guided by our vision “Evidence. Innovation. Impact,” BIIRAD conducts interdisciplinary research to address complex public health and development challenges in Bangladesh and other low- and middle-income countries. Our work spans behavioral and population health, epidemiology, nutrition, non-communicable diseases, mental health, digital health, artificial intelligence, community health, and implementation science, generating high-quality evidence that informs policies, strengthens health systems, and improves population health outcomes.

At BIIRAD, research extends beyond knowledge generation. We are committed to translating scientific evidence into practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions that create measurable impact. Through community-engaged research, implementation science, and humanitarian health initiatives, we work alongside underserved, marginalized, Indigenous, and climate-vulnerable populations to reduce health inequities, strengthen community resilience, and improve access to quality health services. Our initiatives integrate research, health promotion, capacity strengthening, humanitarian response, and evidence-informed community interventions to ensure that scientific discoveries lead to meaningful improvements in people’s lives.

Research capacity strengthening is central to our mission. BIIRAD invests in developing the next generation of researchers through research training, scientific writing, mentorship, fellowship programs, research supervision, and international academic collaboration. By fostering scientific excellence and research leadership, we contribute to building a stronger and more sustainable research ecosystem in Bangladesh and beyond.
